Dr. John Carter
York, Peel, Halton, and Durham
Dr. John C. Carter is a widely known Ontario museologist, author, and historian. Over the past 40 years, he has documented, researched, recorded, published articles about, and promoted the preservation of Ontario’s built rural heritage.

I am a retired building contractor. I have built mostly the high-end homes, some commercial work and also a number of farm structures. My company is called Allandale Homes and is currently run by my grandson.
Shane Klassen

Shane and his wife operate an organic dairy farm and beekeeping business in Oxford county. With a historic bank barn on the farm, Shane continues to develop traditional skills such as hand hewing, timber framing, and traditional stone masonry.

For more then 30 years my wife Cathy and I have lived in a century old farm house near Chesley, a farming community in South Western Ontario. During most of that time, I owned and operated the Timber Truss Company supplying timber frame structures to residential and commercial projects.
Looking for Regional Representatives
- Have knowlege/ interest about barns: construction, history, and/or regional/local issues affecting barns and barn owners.
- Are encouraged to take pictures and contribute to documenting Ontario barns.
- Exchange emails and phone calls with barn people in their local area.
- May represent OBP at local events and meetings we are invited to attend.
- Asked to join a committee to help with memberships, promotion, events, and other ongoing projects.
- Create at least one blog post a year for the website and social media.
- Collaborate at monthly board meetings.
